MSU defeats Illinois
Michigan State was able to defeat Illinois at U of I on Sunday, March 1. The victory pushes the Spartans road record in the Big Ten to a league best 7-1. This is an incredible feat. There only loss was at Purdue a week ago. Of course, they get a rematch next week to try and avenge that loss.
The big news is that with this victory MSU has clinched a tie for the Big Ten title. They have a game with Indiana later on this week where a win would clinch an outright title! This is there first title since 2001.
The game against the Fighting Illini was a close one. Although MSU led from the opening tip, it was tied at 58 late in the game. It was similar to the game played in East Lansing earlier in the season. State proved that they are to deep and battle tested though and managed to pull off the win.
